Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Columbia, Missouri, or surrounding Boone County area.
     
  • Be a current high school senior, recent graduate, or GED recipient pursuing college, trade school, or certification.
     
  • Demonstrate financial need or significant personal challenges overcome.
     
  • Exhibit strong character, leadership potential, and community involvement.
     
  • Submit a complete application including:
     
    • Personal essay (detailing goals, challenges, and impact of education)
       
    • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or community leader
       
    • Official transcript or GED documentation
       
    • Proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution or program

  • Scholarships typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 per recipient, depending on available funding and applicant pool.

The Bulldog Scholarship Selection Committee — comprised of educators, community leaders, and representatives from the P.E.A.C.E. and H.O.P.E. Center — reviews all applications using a scoring rubric based on:

  • Personal Essay & Goals (30%)
     
  • Leadership & Community Involvement (25%)
     
  • Academic Record or Work Ethic (20%)
     
  • Financial Need (15%)
     
  • Interview Performance (10%)
     

Finalists may be invited for an in-person or virtual interview to share their story and goals before awards are finalized.

Selected scholars are expected to:

  • Maintain good academic and behavioral standing while enrolled.
     
  • Participate in one community service or mentorship activity hosted by the P.E.A.C.E. and H.O.P.E. Center.
     
  • Submit a brief progress report or reflection letter at the end of the academic year describing how the scholarship impacted their journey.
     
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation, promoting the values of perseverance, education, accountability, community, and empowerment.
